Meet Patsy, My Corgi

This is Patsy. She’s a 3-year-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi that we got from a Sheltie/Corgi rescue organization in Columbia (great people… if you can adopt an animal in need of rescue definitely do it). Note that I created a category just for her: Stupid Corgi. It’s not that she is lacking intelligence. Want her to sit? Done. Come? Instantly. She is quick to learn words and commands. She knows how to solve basic problems. It’s more a matter of common sense. She’s a connosieur of all-things-toxic-to-dogs. If there is chocolate anywhere in the house (and when isn’t there?), she’ll find it. Ditto for grapes and raisins. Raisinettes are a double-win. She has a thing for teasing the cat, who has been totally nonchalant so far, but one day she’s going to snap and become a frenzied ball of feline fury. One amusing thing about Patsy… she doesn’t understand the concept of playing fetch… if you throw a stick, ball, or frisbee she’ll just look at you… but she will chase the light from a laser pointer forever. She’s totally devoted, follows me everywhere. I do mean everywhere… if I don’t lock her out of the bathroom she’ll sit on the bathmat when I take a shower and on my feet when I use the bathroom for other reasons. I love dogs, but I appreciate how the cat gives me a little more space.
