South Carolina Walking Fish
The searobin is a fish that lives in the inlets of the Carolinas. You’ve got a good chance of catching them if you’re out with a cast net trying to get shrimp. I’ve had this pair since late fall of 2008. They haven’t tried to eat each other or anything else in the tank. It’s very interesting to watch them forage for food and bury themselves in the sand. Though they spend most of their time on the bottom of the tank, they will swim. That is quite a sight, since they extend their ‘wings’. It isn’t very obvious in the photo, but they have beautiful iridescent eyes. I have not heard them ’sing’… that may only be something they do if they have access to land.
